Junri Hamada was a master potter from Gifu, Japan, who dedicated over 50 years to his craft, drawing inspiration from the ceramics of the Azuchi-Momoyama era. His work exemplified a fusion of traditional techniques and modern aesthetics, particularly evident in his celebrated Kuro-Oribe (Black Oribe) series seen here. This bowl represents one of Hamada's last pieces, crafted shortly before his passing in late 2022, making it a significant artifact of his artistic legacy.
