An unusual early 20th-century humidor constructed in the form of a miniature refrigerator or icebox. Exceptionally thick milk glass panels are framed in nickel-plated metal with working hinges and a heavy refrigerator latch. The interior retains its original humidifying system: a plaster filled metal reservoir beneath a removable wire mesh shelf, designed to slowly release moisture into the enclosed chamber when sprayed with water. 
 
The elaborate construction suggests the piece was produced as a functional salesman’s sample or promotional object for a refrigerator manufacturer, though no maker’s mark has been found.
