This Art Deco covered jar designed by Gunnar Nylund for Rörstrand pottery in Sweden during the 1930s embodies the distinctive style of the period. Adorned with graceful female nudes, the jar features rich, warm brown and tan tones, enhanced by gold edges that reflect Nylund's signature flambé style. Its crown-shaped lid and curving shoulders create a beautifully harmonious silhouette. Before gaining acclaim for his organic forms and mottled glazes in the post-World War II period, Nylund produced a line of fine Art Deco pieces using vivid hues of brown or blue-gray, accented with gold.
